This site should work for everyone

I build websites for a living, so mine has no excuse. Here is what this site does for visitors using screen readers, keyboards, and other assistive technology, what it does not do yet, and how to reach me when something gets in your way.

My standard

I build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, with WCAG 2.2 additions applied wherever practical. In plain terms, that means the site is designed to be perceivable, operable, and understandable without a mouse, without sound, and without perfect vision.

What that looks like here

  • Every image carries alternative text, and purely decorative elements are hidden from screen readers.
  • The FAQ, the video players, and the Costa Rica map pins are built from native buttons and disclosure elements, so they work with a keyboard alone.
  • Films never autoplay. A video only loads after you press its play button.
  • Animations and the card tilt effects respect your device's reduced-motion setting.
  • Text colors meet or exceed contrast requirements against the dark background.
  • Pages reflow to narrow screens without sideways scrolling, and pinch-zoom is never blocked.

Known limitations

An honest list, because I would rather tell you than have you find out:

  • There is no skip-to-content link yet, so keyboard users have to tab through the menu at the top of each page. It is on my list.
  • Keyboard focus outlines are the browser defaults rather than a styled, high-visibility indicator of my own. Also on the list.
  • The films are hosted on YouTube, and some of the older ones do not have captions. They are portfolio pieces; nothing else on the site depends on watching them.
